When rhinebeck contacted me regarding commissioning a piece, I knew immediately I'd do it. These two horses aren't just any - the bay front and center is her horse, Nemo, and the Belgian walking away was a mare she previously owned, and was set to come back to her this autumn to retire. The Belgain, otherwise known as Cody, passed away suddenly, symbolized in the way she's walking away from the camera. Unfortunately there weren't many good-quality shots of Cody, or of Nemo, either, so rhinebeck allowed me to take liberties with the two of them in recreation. Nemo's head really is her, though, superimposed onto a stock background. Her belly spot is hers, too.
